Clogged drain

There are many reasons your drains will clog. Here we go over the most common reasons

Your sink drain in the bathroom has a stopper. When in place it prohibits objects like bottle caps and earrings from entering but sometimes the stopper alone will impede the drainage of water. If this is the case you may want to remove it but you are now in danger of loosing objects down the drain. If you don't use the pop up in closed position you may decide to take it out and insert a screen. An experienced plumber will have the proper solution. It may be to install a new popup device.

This stopper can be locked in place or not.

This is the first line of defense against hair and soap bits or diamond rings perhaps.
If not locked in place it is less likely to catch any thing.

If the trap is clear the clog is likely the cause of years of build up and will require cleaning out the entire line.

The best way to clean out an entire drain line is with a motorized drain cleaning machine. The plumber will insert a flexible steel cable (refferred to as a snake) and clean out any build up of matter that has made your drain pipe it's home, and the best way to use a snake is by running water through the drain pipe during the entire process if possible.
