Water Meter

Using the meter to drain down the house system

When the plumber needs to drain the house down after shutting off the water at the valve in the meter box he will begin by taking off the nut attached to the union halve. The union halve is the flanged pipe that is made by the same people who made the meter. In other words it is usually proprietary and hard to find. Using the backup technique he will be sure not to turn the meter as he is getting the union nut off. lossening the nut, click here to see larger image
